Care & Education
‘Tailored learning plans’
At the Grange we extend the same respect
and understanding for the needs of the individual to the
classroom environment. Teachers at the Grange set
individuals tailored learning plans. These plans ensure
that each pupil has access to a range of curriculum
opportunities and a stimulating learning experience which
allows each pupil to enjoy success in a gradual, measured
way. The individual care and therapeutic programme further
support the learning process and ensure that each pupil has
the holistic support necessary to meet their individual
needs.
A broad and balanced approach to the curriculum in the
early stages of education at the Grange ensures that pupils
gain a firm grasp of basic literacy and are not impeded in
their academic progress later on. Individual tutoring is
available to facilitate any intensive remedial work
required. Achievements in the classroom are recognised and
encouraged through externally accredited awards at GCSE
or Entry Level Award.
A return to mainstream education for pupils is an option we
back up with well-developed procedures. This allows
individuals to think about a possible trial period
available in a Rutland primary or secondary school. This
gives clear indication on their readiness to make this
permanent step.
