Qualified to Care
'Sensitivity and awareness'
The excellent therapeutic ethos of the Grange is greatly dependent on the dedication given by care workers and other staff to pupils on a one-to-one basis. This nurture and care cannot end at the classroom door or at the end of lessons. Many of our staff members are residentially based ensuring this care is available. Staff members are professionally qualified to meet the needs and challenges presented by educationally and behaviourally disordered children or are in the process of studying for the necessary vocational qualifications.
New staff members are also required to complete an induction programme to reinforce the ethos of the Grange. All staff members are required to behave with sensitivity and awareness in relations with our children at all times. This approach is replicated in working relationships with parents and families. Residential Social Workers are responsible for individual groups of pupils who reside in any one of the residential areas on campus. They are responsible for the provision and supervision of individual's needs and recreational activities. Each pupil has an individual care plan and his own Personal Support Worker who maintains contact with the child's teacher, counsellor and family. All staff are required to adhere strictly to codes of practice where investigation, recording, handling and action procedures are concerned.
